Climate Change and Infectious Diseases: Charting a Path Forward

The inaugural P2H Webinar was held on March 23, 2026, featuring Dr. Amir Sapkota, Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Maryland School of Public Health. His presentation, Climate Change and Infectious Diseases: Charting a Path Forward, explored the growing impact of climate change on infectious disease transmission and examined emerging public health threats, research priorities, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants engaged in a timely discussion on the implications of environmental change for global health and future preparedness.

Living on the Edge of Care and Survival: A Situational Analysis of Single Mothers in Nepal

The second webinar, held on July 28, 2026, featured Dr. Arati Maleku, Associate Professor at The Ohio State University College of Social Work. Dr. Maleku presented findings from a large mixed-methods situational analysis of 912 single mothers in Nepal, examining multidimensional poverty, economic insecurity, women's agency, and the resilience of female-headed households. The presentation emphasized that while many women experience significant structural and economic hardship, they also demonstrate remarkable resilience and agency. The discussion highlighted the importance of evidence-informed, gender-responsive social protection policies and community-based interventions to strengthen the well-being of single mothers and their families.
